Since 1982, this famed Chianti Classico Riserva has borne the name of the Fontalle vineyard. In turn, this first-class vineyard took its name from a spring of pure water that flowed beneath a centuries-old olive tree. Both the spring and the olive tree can still be found on the old estate at Sant’Andrea. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with 21 days of maceration. Around half of the wine ferments in barriques for a year, while the rest matures in barrels of French oak for two years.
