DESCRIPTION OF THE CALAREALE
The "Cala Reale" of Sella and Mosca is a fine example of Vermentino, a fusion of softness and flavor, which stands out for its interesting quality-price ratio. Respect for the place and the culture of wine, attachment to the land and its traditions, these are the beliefs that are still pursued by what has become one of the most prestigious wineries not only in the region, but also in Italy. Sustainability and biodiversity, despite the size of the estate, remain themes dear to the winery so much so that the vineyards are interspersed with numerous species of trees typical of the Mediterranean scrub.
The "Cala Reale" comes from Vermentino grapes in purity, planted near the coast, where they absorb the moods of the sea and wind. Here, in the province of Alghero, the vines rest on soils of marine origin, which give the grapes greater flavor. The harvest takes place between the second and third decade of September and after soft pressing, a prolonged cold maceration is carried out from the skins to the must in order to transfer greater complexity and richness to the liquid. Again in this perspective, after fermentation at low temperatures, the wine rests on the yeasts for a short period. A wine that therefore combines freshness and matter, without giving up its strong point, namely extreme drinkability.
Vermentino "Cala Reale" is presented in the glass with a lively straw yellow color. From the first smell its marine origin is clear, where brackish notes intertwine with a profile of crunchy fresh fruit such as apple and citrus. Then a brushstroke of acacia honey, almost hidden. The mix of freshness and contained richness predicted on the nose, is also reflected in the sip, elegant and very fine, but supported by an important material. A very drinkable white wine, it satisfies daily fish-based dishes, also thanks to its particularly advantageous price. Make room in the cellar!
