Marka: Ceretto
Langhe DOC Rosso
Monsordo
Winery: Ceretto Monsordo Bernardina
Location: Alba
Grape-varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah
Hectares (estate-owned): 11
Altitude m: 240 - 285
Soil: 45% clay, 10% silt, 40% sand
pH: 8
Stock: SO4, 420A, KOBER 5BB
Plants per hectare: 4.300
Years of planting: 1987
First year of production: 1997
Bottles produced: 50.000
Vinification: Given the staggered ripening times of each of the grape varieties, each variety is vinified separately. The various operations in the cellar, however, follow a common process: fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled 45 hL wooden casks, lasting 12/15 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in 300 L French oak barrels.
Ageing: 12/14 months in wood. Each wine is aged separately.
Wine: Deep ruby red in color, with slight garnet undertones. The nose is rich and varied, with spice and vanilla notes. In the mouth, an opulent structure is enhanced by soft, sweet tannins, leaving no doubt regarding the wine’s long life and unquestionable class.
Note: After several years of producing and bottling the varietals separately, in 1997 the original project of the Monsordo Bernardina estate finally came to fruition: to create a great wine from the world’s most important red grape-varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot).
