The wine
The 2019 Yarden Gewurztraminer features seductive notes of lychee, passion fruit, melon, spices and honeysuckle. This complex, medium-bodied wine is dry and full of flavor.
Ready to enjoy now, Yarden Gewurztraminer improves in the bottle for about 18 months from harvest and remains in good drinking condition for about three years from harvest. We like to serve wine as an appetizer, or pair it with spicy Korean rack of lamb, Indian red lentil curry, or sweet potato gnocchi.
The vintage
2019 was another exceptional harvest in the Golan Heights. The season followed Israel's wettest winter in years, ending five years of drought. An unusually cold spring ended abruptly with a warm May, followed by average temperatures from June to mid-September. The harvest started slowly, with the first fruits on August 6. A heat wave from September 18-20 catapulted the vineyards' maturation, followed by our second largest harvest week. An unusually warm October kept the harvest going until it ended on October 23. All in all, another beautiful season on the Golan gave us another year of exceptional wines.
