This vegetable is called with many different names in Italy: "cornetti", "tegoline" and "fail mangia tutto" are only few of the nicknames which vary from region to region, in English they're called green bean or string bean.
Despite being legumes, green beans have all the characteristics not to be considered simple vegetables, in fact, contrary to beans, peas, and fava beans not only their seeds are eaten but the whole pod.
Another clear difference between the other legumes and green beans are the calories, green beans are very poor in proteins, lipids and carbohydrates, this explains their low caloric contribution.
